We rescued Jax from our local shelter. He weighed a grand total of 98 pounds when we brought him home. He had also tested heartworm positive. We felt sure we could treat him and show him the love he needed. We waited several months to begin the heartworm treatment. We wanted him to gain weight and to get over the kennel cough
that he had.
I’ll never forget our first night at home. He had no idea how to play. He didn’t seem to know what to do with the toys. After a couple of months, we met the real him when he would get excited and play with us. He also bonded with my husband and would almost run to meet him daily. He was not a very active dog but he made up for that with love. He met everyone with a smile. He would let our children use him as a pillow.
He was doing so well, it was time for the treatment. We took him to the vet and he weighed a whopping 129 pounds. A week after the first series he passed. He left a gapping hole in our family. He is truly missed and will always be in our hearts. We love you Jax.
