Last year, my best friend’s dog had a litter of puppies. They were full-blooded Boston Terriers, and there were 7. Lulu was the one that brightened up to see me, she was crazy, she came to me when I wanted, she was the best dog. I spent hours and hours with her, wishing my parents would let me keep her, but I knew it would never happen.

I was wrong. My 13th birthday I got a dog for my birthday, Lulu. She was perfect, and I will never forget the feeling I had when I knew she was mine.

Over the next few months we bonded. Best time of my life. We were meant for each other and to know that some of the best times I have ever had were experienced with her. Every time we would feed the dogs, her and Jake would fight before it was time to eat. They always fought over bones. Lulu would hide the bones anywhere. I found one in my parent’s closet the other night.

One day I had come home from a friend’s house after school. It was a Thursday. My friend had come home with me and she was the one that had given me Lulu. I had let the dogs in, and she didn’t come to the door. I thought she was sleeping. an hour later, we noticed that our boxer Rufus, and our terrier Jake’s eyes and necks were swollen. I immediately thought of Lulu.

I ran outside looking for her and found her in a hole. her eyes looking at me, I thought she was sleeping. I called her name and her ears didn’t perk. I knew something was wrong. I looked into her eyes, and something was wrong. I knew then and there that she was dead. She was gone. Never to breathe again and there’s nothing I can do about it. Nothing. I ran inside and broke down crying, my parents asked what was wrong and I said Lulu; she’s dead.

We all started to cry; we couldn’t stop. She was my baby, my girl, my everything. I really miss you. I love you. The next day I got a puppy, Roxi. I didn’t know about it and that the only thing that made me smile since. Every time I feed the dogs and can’t help but break down and cry.

I miss you Lulu. Please come back.
