Abbey Greenfield by Michael Greenfield / Your Loving Family

Abbey was originally my wife’s dog when we started dating, but quickly grew on me and became my best friend. When I met Abbey she was 5 years old and such a great companion to my wife. Abbey was a part of all of life’s major milestones when Shelley and I got married, bought a house, had our twin daughters Paige and Hailey and then daughter Riley followed 5 years later. At age 7, we learned that Abbey had Addison’s disease, an Adrenal Gland Irregularity that required monthly checkups, percorten injections, prednisone daily, and a special diet. Nothing too much for our little Abbey, after all, she was our first born and we would take care of her no matter what the cost.

But after 15 wonderful years, she began to lose control of her bladder and would wake up saturated in her own fluids, so we knew that before all of her dignity was gone, we had to really evaluate if she had good quality of life. In the end, it was the hardest decison that we could have ever made, but the correct decision knowing that she is once again at peace and looking down at us thanking us for the 15 years of taking care of her with responsible ownership and most of all spoiling her with the love and affection that we all showed her. Abbey, you will be missed, but never forgotten!!!

Forever With Love XOXO,
