Angel by Steve and Loretta Wilcox / Mom and Dad

Over the years, we remember thee;
the one who gave us so much glee.
She would always greet us at the door;
with a wag of her tail and so much more.

A tiny woof to say hello;
and ohh, how I missed you so.
Some words we said, she understood,
like walk or treat gave her happy feet;
she would bounce up and down and
all around, and ready for her walk to town.

To scold her or tell her no;
she would hang her head and stoop real low.
Bathtime was something she really disliked;
she would run and hide and put up a fight.
In the summer she would run and play;
or just lie in the grass and
lounge through the day.
In the winter, low and behold;
she would chase a snowball in spite of the cold.

When the babies came;
grandchrildren to us;
she would lie by their side and
let us know when they fussed.
As they grew older
they would run and play and chase
each other and get in the way.

Now just ten (10) years old,
and she became ill,
we took her to the vet;
there’s no cure with a pill.
For you see she had cancer and
it was real bad;
inside our hearts broke it was so sad.

Nothing we could do; nothing could be done.
So we gave her to God;
now in heaven she runs.
Yes it is true, her body is gone;
but within our hearts her spirit lives on.

In memory of Angel; our pet, our loved one; our friend,
Angel
