You came into our lives shortly after Mommy had a miscarriage. I fell in love with you that first night you stayed with us and slept by my feet – so tiny and fuzzy. You were a keeper. We named you Angel in honor of that baby that we wanted so very much. You filled a great big hole in our lives. You were so cute with that long black hair and big eyes. You were curious and absolutely full of life.
Funny though, you actually turned out to be more of a “devil”, knocking over vases and anything else you could find, eating Mommy’s necklaces, waking me up in the middle of the night, and causing general chaos every day, but you were my Angel.
Our girls were growing up with you as their first pet, but you were always really my cat. Then you got very sick about 8 years ago. I fed and watered you with a syringe and the vet prepared us for the worst, but he finally figured out that you had diabetes. With the proper medication and loving care you came back to health after being
within a day or two of dying.
You put up with the new dogs in our lives, first Mr. Bo the big lovable Golden Retriever and then Zsa-Zsa the pesky little Yorkie-Poo. You just barely tolerated them, growled at them and swatted their noses occasionally, but they were always so fascinated by you.
You and I were always very close but nursing you back from near death and giving you two insulin shots each day all these years brought us even closer. As you got older you stopped grooming yourself, so I brushed you each day, held you and talked to you, you talked back with your purring and that throat sound you made, and that brought us closer still. Everyone always thought it adorable how you would meow and “talk” back to me when I talked to you.
You endured quite a lot in your life, but you mellowed and slowed down in your later years and became a sweet cuddly cat.
So finally, in your 17th year, a tumor appeared, and we knew it was time for you to move on. That day you stood by your food bowl not eating, on wobbly legs, and just looking at me – we both knew it was time.
I miss you so very much my sweet Angel Kitty.
Rest in peace my Bubba Cat.
Love you honey,
