So much more than cat- my companion, my insightful guide

The one who helped me face the world

when I wanted to hide.

You and I had made a pact –

you would help me to be strong.

When endless challenges faced,

made some days way too long.

Quiet moments shared, a nuzzle in my neck,

massage upon my back.

You allowed me peace to gather strength

which I sometimes lacked.

I can hear your gentle rumble softly near my ear

I know you did not want to go and to always be so near.

You’ve always loved me dearly and did your very best.

I couldn’t betray that love and trust so I had to let you rest.

Life has granted us, my darling, with the gift of mortality.

Just because our bodies tire does

not mean we no longer Be.

I will miss you dearly until we meet again.
