KARLY by / Linda

Scott and Karly have been together as partners and friends since 1998 with a K-9 unit in Jupiter. Florida.

Karly died of heart failure following a routine training exercise on September 1st. Sadly he had a heart condition that was previously undetected.

As their neighbor, I would like to thank Scott and Karly for helping to make our community a safer place.

The way he spoke of Karly, it was obvious that he was not only his partner, but a friend and a member of his family

Punkin’ by LINDA / Punkin’s Mom, Sam & Girly

Punkin’ was my special little boy. It was by chance that we met at the animal rescue league in 1993 when he was about 4 years old. This brave Sheltie survived Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and was adopted as a stray by a family with children that did not understand his needs. They returned him to the shelter which was fortunate for both of us.

I was helping my sister find her lost dog and it was by chance that we met. I had no intention of having a pet. Having been separated for 2 years from my Ex and our 2 Shelties, and relocating to a new state, it was the furthest thing from my mind. When our eyes made contact, the rest was history. I fought the idea for about 2 days and on the 3rd day I returned and I thank God that he was still there waiting for me!

The two of us began a new journey. Neither one of us really wanted to be around anyone in the beginning. We taught each other to trust and believe that all is possible when you have a friend.
I’m not really sure who rescued who.

I miss him so much and can only hope he knows that I will always love him. I held him until I felt the last beat of his heart.
My heart felt as though it had stopped as well.
