Cookie Ellis

Cookie was such a good cat. She appeared one January, sick, pregnant. We took her in; cared for her. She had 5 babies but only one survived. She loved my husband and wasn’t the same after he died. She was my friend, companion, sounding board. Miss her quiet, gentle, manner. Miss her waking me up everyday at 7:00 with a meow and paw on my face. She was gone in minutes, just laid down under her favorite chair and passed. Cookie, I’ll see you again, enjoy seeing all your babies again.

roy ellis

Miss you Roy, We named you after Roy Tweedy because his employee gave you to us.You were so funny. Loved how you would play basketball with the toys and fly all over the house. I remember when you tried to take my glasses off, then you bit my lip. You would land on our fingers when we held them out.
Buttercup missed you when you passed. She has since joined you as well as our other budgies. Till we meet again old friend. Fly high.

Pooh

Its been 24 years since you were killed. Still think of you every day. Steve misses you so much. The day you were killed was the hardest day for Steve. You’re in our hearts forever. Till we meet again.

Red by Nancy Ellis / Nancy

Red found us one day in August 2014. He was a senior cat with beautiful but sad gold eyes and unkempt orange/red fur. He only had half a tail and judging from his fear of us I assumed he had been abused. He gradually let us care for him. We fed him kept him warm during bad weather. He always look sick and though he ate well got thinner. He loved to be cuddled and have his chin scratched.

On Sunday Feb. 15 I opened the door to his room and found him on the floor, gone. We were glad he had a few months of love and caring before he died. He was a sweet friendly cat.

Rambo by Nancy Ellis / Your adopted family

Rambo was a beautiful peach spotted Persian with sparkling green eyes that we found thin and unkempt in July eating the bread we put out for the birds. We gave him food and water and he started to visit every day. He was friendly from the start. After awhile he recognized our car and would always greet us when we came home. He would roll on the ground begging for a tummy scratch and love. When he didn’t show for his breakfast we went looking and found him on the highway, like we’ve found so many other unloved, unwanted precious animals. We will bury him tomorrow morning near his other fallen cousins. It’s just amazing how such a brief relationship can impact a heart. I’m glad he experienced a little love and caring in his life.

I just pray that the people who own these precious animals would keep them inside where they are safe instead of letting them roam especially when you live near major highways. I regret not taking him to a shelter where he could have been adopted by someone who would care for him forever.

Cookie’s babies by Nancy Ellis / Cookie’s family

Cookie was abandoned by neighbors that moved. When she started coming to our back door during the bitter snow storms of January, she had a severe cold and eye infection. We expected her to die. We took her in “temporarily” and kept her separate from our other cat that has feline leukemia. Cookie recovered, but after a few weeks, we realized she was pregnant. We placed her in an unused bedroom for privacy. She had an unusual delivery that produced one kitten every 12+ hours. We were assured that this is normal with some cats. Only one of her five babies survived. No animal should experience this kind physical pain and emotional anguish. Cookie will be spayed as soon as possible. This tribute is for Cookie, her deceased babies: (Precious, Angel, Gorgeous and Cutey Pie)and for all animals that are abandoned, abused, and neglected.
