Goodbye for Now, Bailey
My beloved Cocker Spaniel
You were all a dog could be.
Although you were so little
You meant the world to me.
The moment that you died
My heart was broken in two;
The one part filled with memories.
The other died with you.
I often wake up early
While the world is fast asleep
And take a walk down Memory Lane
With tears upon my cheeks.
Silently I grieve
As I brush away the tears.
The memories that you left behind
Will last throughout the years.
Remembering you is easy.
I do it every day.
Missing you is a heartache
That will never go away.
Although you can’t be by my side
We’re never truly apart.
Until the final breath I take
You’ll be living in my heart.
Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I’ll miss you, Bailey
Until we meet again.
They say time heals all sorrows
And helps us to forget.
But time has only proven
How much I think of you yet.
I hold you tightly within my heart
And there you will remain.
Life has gone on without you, Bailey,
But it will never be the same.
