Ben Harding by George Wiseman / Dad

THE SON OF LOVE

Ben, I cannot tell you how I miss you, or all the things that you were to me
For in you, I saw the son of Love, itself

In the body of a greyhound called Ben Harding,
Dwelt that eternal, incorruptible spirit
As pure and beautiful as the rising sun

I was always in awe of you, wonderful friend

Before you, I had not ever experienced
Any creature with such a perfect, untouched heart

You touched the lives of many of those who knew you
And though we think “human beings” superior to all other living things
I know no “human” who could not have learned a thing or two from you
You taught me much, Dear Friend

Yet above all of the other things I learned from you
More than anyone or anything before
You made me feel loved
And for such a great gift, I loved you with all my heart, Ben Harding

I will remember you until all my memories have gone away

Fortunate am I that our paths ever crossed
And always will I be

I will honor your sublime spirit, gentle Ben
And for the rest of this life I will miss you

Within you I saw something holy,
A mystery beyond time and space
Which is Love

I will never forget you
Ben Harding
