June 21st 2002 was the happiest day of our lives,
for that is the day we got our beautiful little
Golden Lab Retriever “Bonkers”.
Four year old Rebecca named this; the cutest
sweetest smartest and most perfect puppy God
had ever created.
Every morning we four kids would go outside and play
with this delightful doggie. She adored people playing,
and her new family: Caleb Joshua Rachel and Rebecca
(plus Mommy and Daddy!). In just six short weeks she
completely became a part of the van Rhee family.
When she escaped out of the backyard through the open
gate one day it was so incredibly scary and sad.
Thankfully she was only 3 doors away sleeping in our
neighbor’s backyard even though we looked for for her
for almost an hour on our bikes.
We fed her 3 hot dogs upon her arrival back home as
a celebration! She was truly a joy to us all.
One day she started to act strangely and she kept
whimpering in pain. When Daddy took her to the vet,
they didn’t really find anything wrong with her but the
next morning when we went outside to play with her
she was no longer alive.
It was probably the saddest day of our lives.
We love our beloved Bonkers and we thank God for the
six wonderful weeks we had with her as a part of our clan.
We’ll never forget her and we ask the Lord to bless her
with the angels for she will certainly fit right in
with them in Heaven.
