From the day I saw you as a puppy
and you chose me as the one you wanted to be with
my heart was yours forever.
Now I have endured that dreaded day
when you have gone from my sight
but not from my heart.
I so look forward to the joyful day
to hold you in my arms once again
and reassure you of how much I Love You.
You came into my life and filled it with
your unconditional love and companionship.
For that I am truly grateful.
Everywhere I look I think of you.
I especially miss your warm heartfelt greetings
at the door when I return home from being away.
I also miss the way you followed me everywhere I would go,
except while I was doing chores.
You would finally give up and just
lay where you could see me in all directions.
You were the best friend any one person could wish for.
The only thing that keeps my heart from completely breaking
is believing that when it is my time to leave this world
I will be able to stop by Rainbow Bridge
and have you with me once again and forever.
