Sir Bristol Chocolate Moose, aka Bristol, was known as our “drama queen” & “comic relief”. We got Bristol by luck – the original owners couldn’t handle him (at 6 weeks) so they returned him to the breeder. When they decided to take him back, we had already gotten possession of him…yea, us!! He was always so gentle, pleasing and soft tempered. When our other dogs didn’t feel so good, Bristol was there to comfort them – by laying by their side, licking or nudging them. Although stubborn to train, he gave the gentlest “paw” than all the other dog we’ve known.
Bristol was obsessed with playing ball! When we would go in the backyard, he would put his ball at our feet. If we changed positions, he would reposition his ball accordingly. He was also a big fan of WATER! When we turned on the hose, he would attack the water, getting everyone in his way wet. We had to tie him up in order to water the plants in our backyard. Lastly, Bristol loved vegetables! When we would tend to the garden, Bristol would “stalk” the garden gate just waiting for food to be thrown over. His favorite were grape tomatoes…yum, yum! We’ll keep close the memories of the way he would gently squish the grape so it would make a “snap” noise, then chomp the tomato until all gone.
In August 2012, Bristol started limping off and on. He was still full of energy but tried to hide his pain from us. After a month of this behavior, he started struggling with walking and getting off the ground. We took him into the vet and they thought he had eaten something. During the visit, as he was being pumped with hydrating fluids, the vet discovered a pocket of white fluid that came back positive for a GI problem. It was going to cost thousands of dollars to operate, with no guarantee he would return to normal health, so we decided to put him out of his misery.
Bristol will be missed by his family (mom, dad & brother Zach), canine companions Daytona (12 yrs) & Madison (5 yrs), and feline cousins Dude (4 yrs) & Trouble (5 months). The nicknames we gave him over the years were: leinier neiner, drama queen, Mr. B, & Bristol leiny
with the tiny weenie (haha).
“You are out of pain and playing with the Lord & brother Talladega in heaven. Thanks for blessing our hearts with your loving and loyal companionship
for a little over 9 years.”
Love and miss you!
