You came to us when the kids were young and you watched them grow. You were known throughout the neighborhood because if you did not hear the storm door “click” you were out like a flash in fact just about every kid had their chance at chasing you. I can still see you positioning yourself on the stairs so you could watch all the rooms in the house. You never asked for much and you were such a sweetheart. As the kids grew and went off to college you would get so excited when they would come home and I knew you were a big reason why they came “to see their Buff”. If it had not been for you it would have been a lot harder for me when each kid left to make a life of their own. You were my constant. My beach walking neighborhood stroll door greeting buddy for 17 1/2 years.
It has only been a short time since you have left me so I guess that is why I am still surprised when I walk in at night,and you are not there. At the end you broke my heart to look into your sad eyes for I knew what you wanted me to do.
I know you are at peace now and there is no more pain. You touched many lives in your years and I need to say thank you for making our lives richer. You will be in our hearts forever and your absence is sorely felt.
