Buggs Bunny by Yvonne

I helped Buggs Bunny to cross the Rainbow Bridge yesterday morning. I held him in my arms and he looked into my eyes as his nose was still moving as it always did. I told him about the Rainbow Bridge that he’ll be young and healthy again; and that there’s as much salad as he can eat and that he’ll be able to hop again free. The minutes until he took his last breath seemed an eternity to me. I didn’t want to do that but it was the only way to help him.

Buggs Bunny was a healthy and lively boy till two weeks ago when he had got an ictus. The vet gave him medication and said that they usually help very well to recover. It was during last week that Buggs Bunny’s conditions got worse. When I sat him on my lap to give him his medication his front legs just slipped forward. He almost ate nothing. Somehow I knew that if I wanted to help him there’s only one thing to do. Then yesterday morning after giving him his medication he lied down in his cage with his head on the ground and breathing very fast. I was desperated, and immediately went to the vet with him. As he’d told me two days ago putting him to sleep was to help him; and that’s what I wanted the most.

My lovely little Buggs Bunny you were the friendliest bunny ever. I miss you so much especially kissing those warm and soft ears of yours. You were such a fighter you didn’t want to leave your sister and cage-mate alone and seeing me crying all the time neither. You two were never apart in your whole life. She misses you too.

I love you so much and wish you were still here but I’m also very thankful for the nearly six years we had together. You live on in my heart forever. Please watch down on all of us especially on your sister Liquirizia she needs your strength. Have fun at the Rainbow Bridge together with your friends who sure had met you at the Gates. I hope that as the vet said you’re having a big party all together. I send you many many kisses until we meet again.

Love Mommy
