by Ben / Benjamin Passons, 2004

Time came when I hated myself to the core.
Healing was no option, I had hit bottom, the floor.
Night after lonely night spent sobbing in bed,
No comfort to be found, except for the resting of your head

What I might have done had I not had you?
I hate to think of now, the past was so askew.
But you were the beginning of a salvation hard fought;
Were it not for your love, the battle i would have lost.

And now you are gone, my guiding beacon, my light.
Your duty is finished, you retire from the fight.
The day I forget your wise counsel will be the day I sin.
Your ultimate lesson, “Love all! but start with Ben!”

You saved my life, I could not save yours;
And the sadness I now feel rips me apart, endures.
And though now we are separated, physically apart.
Fletcher, know that you will always live in my heart.
