You came into my dream last night
You crawled upon my bed
You kissed my face with your pink tongue
Then snuggled by my head.
You closed your eyes and took a nap
Then woke me with a bark
A heavenly light shown all around
My room no longer dark.
How beautiful your golden fur
Your big brown eyes aglow
Celestial spirits encircling you
Illuminating you head to toe.
A crystal halo above your head
Your royalty defined
A golden collar on your neck
With finest jewels entwined.
You turned around to show to me
The new wings that you wore
White feathers laced so intricate
But one little feather was tore.
I live up in heaven now
Your spirit seemed to say
I am always by your side
I am with you every day.
As morning light awakened me
I tried my thoughts to gather
I looked beside me on the bed
There lay a tattered feather.
