Jan. 5th 2005 10 am my loving 6 yr old female Siamese cat is found crying on the floor unable to move her legs and surrounded by vomit, I rushed her to the vets who performed all manor of tests, by 7 pm we were asked to come into the vets to have a chat with the doc. He explained what had happened. Mishka had developed a blood clot overnight and sometime in the morning it had broken off and floated around her blood stream until finally reaching her lower pelvis and stopping (saddle clot) – Mishka had lost all use and blood supply to the lower part of her body, all manor of drugs had been tried, tablets to lower her blood pressure, blood thinners to try and remove the blockage, but nothing was having any effect. We were told the kindest option was to put her to sleep as she would not survive the night. So myself, my misses and my 2 year old daughter all stood there stroking and talking to Mishka as she was put to sleep.
I am 33 years old this year and so far, that has to be the hardest day of my life. Mishka will be missed deeply. I sit here in tears once again as I write this note, somehow hoping it will ease my pain if I share it…
but it does nothing.
I miss Mishka sitting on my lap as I bash away at the pc for hours on end, if I got up to go anywhere, she would follow… if I went in the garden she would follow me… I went away for a night and when I came home, Mishka would tell me off, there she would be sat right behind the front door with a gravely meowing session that would last 5mins.
When we had our daughter, as a baby she would cry, when she did so, Mishka would come over and sit by her meowing,
which comforted my daughter.
She wasn’t a pet or a cat, she was my friend and part of my family.
As I wipe the rolling tears from my cheeks and come to the end of this note, I hope she is happy and has as much chicken and
comfy chairs as she wants.
We will love you always and we will never forget you Mishka.
