My dearest Koa,
Today was my birthday and I thought of you often as I do most every day. I always thought of Kawika as he got older that I didn’t want to leave him on special days like Christmas just in case it was his last. I never thought that way about you cause you were just a baby. I now know that it can happen to us any time and I took it for granted that you would be there for many years. I am sorry that we left you so many times last year with Auntie Trudy although I know you had the time of your life with her. Please forgive me for taking your life for granted.
I have learned from it the hard way.
