While we each had a mind of our own, Helen was to be one of the greatest of friends to both Carol and myself.
I met Helen on a pet loss site as she had posted her loss of her Cat Simba. She was having a very rough time to say the least. I wrote to her and this being about the first letter to anyone with pet loss, a little nervous, but I seemed to have been able help to her and slowly we started writing one and other, soon we were talking on the phone.
Carol also got in on all conversations with her.
We both learned to love that girl.
She was to come visit us last summer, but she had a bout with her cancer. She was disappointed, but said it would be next year. Then she got this last bout of cancer, to say she was disappointed, would be an understatement. She so wanted to visit the Pet Cemetery where I have a cross for Simba and One for Vincent.
When she found the cancer was getting serious, she asked that I place a cross for her with her two cats. This was a very hard task for me as I had so many tears while making it. In one of her last visits on the phone I told her I did what she requested.
I tried to phone her at the hospital about every day, and even towards the last, she would joke a little. She was a fighter and a fiesty person.
Lynne Burton who was such a friend also to the both of us, also called her at the hospital. It was hard for the both of us, but, Helen would not be forgotten by us or will she ever be. We will carry her in our hearts.
Some day we plan on seeing Helen at the bridge tending our beloved pets that are at the bridge. They all are there with no more pain. She will have her hands full, but she truly loved animals.
I could keep writing for days talking about all the times we had, but the one thing that sticks in my mind was, I was sending alot of Blonde Jokes and finally one day she sent a picture, tell me to take note of her hair:):) Yep, she was Blonde as they came:):)
