I took Digby in as he had been fought (I think he was used as a bait dog), & starved. He was a skeleton with a swollen face. He was so sick, he had to gain weight & get healthy before getting neutered & treated for heartworms. My beloved dog, Brix, recovering from having his spleen out due to cancer, eventually got into a fight with Digby. ..& a week later, I lost my Brix due to it. I held that against Digby for so long until I realized it wasn’t fair to him. I also believed then that Brix had indeed started it as I knew how he was. I still missed my Brix and felt I was dishonoring him by loving Digby. But eventually I came to realize how loving & intelligent Digby was. But 2 yrs later, I had to let him go…his cancer returned! And 2 months later, Gumby, a senior, who had some skin issue & felt awful & was missing some teeth, walked up to a rescuer’s house. He had nowhere to go…and he came to me. He kept groaning & I’d take him to the vet who told me it was allergies. What is was we finally discovered was glaucoma! For almost 2 yrs, he was in pain! He got that affected eye removed but less than 4 wks later, we learned he had cancer! Yet again!!!!! I took him home but returned to the vet. It would have been selfish of me to not have done that & I couldn’t do that to my Gumby! He was set free…
My angels running free
