Caspar was our beloved Jack Russell Terrier, that we had since he was 8 weeks old. He used to sleep on my shoulder like a parrot when he was little. He was a mellow and wonderful little JR, that we loved with all out hearts and soul. He had battled and won several illnesses that hit him all at once, and was doing well. On January 15, 2004, he was out in his yard, playing with his brother in the snow, and was doing great! I had an errand to attend to, and was gone for only 7 minutes. When I returned home, he looked like he was dead, but he wasn’t. He waited for me, and he died in my arms. I rushed him to the Vet, not wanting to believe he was gone. I kept it together, until I walked in the Vets. office and burst into tears. There was nothing they could do for him.

Lucky was Caspar’s “sister”. We adopted her from a Humane Society in CA. She had been adopted twice before us, and returned. She had been badly abused before we adopted her. Someone had beaten her, tried to drown her, and someone tried to strangle her. We LOVED her, and understood her. She was 1 1/2 when we adopted her. She was the most unusual looking dog we had ever seen. She Had a heart bigger than her body! She was the most loving, and wonderful girl!! She and her brothers traveled all over the US with their Mommies. Got to play on different beaches, and most of all were LOVED.
I woke up on Monday, November 15th, and she could NOT walk. She was trying to walk on her front legs. She had arthritis, and was on meds. for it, but it suddenly wasn’t enough. She was in pain and couldn’t walk anymore. We knew what we had to do. Lucky was at peace with it. She thanked us. We called the Vet and made the arrangements. We spent 2 hours cuddling her, crying, and saying good-bye. She was comforting us! I gave her a steak I had made. We took her in the convertible, so she didn’t strain to smell the smells in the air. She was in her dog clothes that she loved. We took her bed with us, so she didn’t have to lay on the cold hard table. She died before the shot was done. The last thing she heard, was I LOVE YOU! THey are both missed and loved.
