My dear and loving calico, Abbey, rejoined her little blue torti sister, Sarah, yesterday. Abbey and Sarah joined our family 14 years ago when my youngest son, Ben, was 2 and brought their special love to us. Abbey and Sarah were inseparable; Abbey was the pushy one and was the first born. Sarah, quiet and retiring, was the runt of the litter, loved to sit at the window watching the birds at the feeder and care for Abbey-grooming her and sleeping beside her.

For years Sarah had deferred to Abbey-if Abbey wanted Sarah’s perch, Abbey would push Sarah off until one time, when she had had enough, Sarah defended her space and Abbey, from then on, gave her a new respect. Abbey always had Sarah ask for treats because Abbey knew I would pay more attention to Sarah’s requests because
Sarah was always so quiet.

Through the years, through the worst of times when friends and family were not there to be supportive, Abbey and Sarah were always there, giving their love. And when Sarah went on ahead, Abbey stayed for that little while to comfort us through that time even though she missed her so. Our little West Highland terrier, Morgan, tried to fill the void for Abbey by staying with her most of the time but yesterday, Feb. 15th, she went home to Sarah and, oh, how we miss them. Our hearts are so broken.

Abbey and Sarah, while we live we will miss you forever; and ask that God keep you near Him and when we too pass on that you will meet us at Heaven’s gates where we will be again together, forever.

We love you always,
