1993 was a busy year, May 8th we moved into our new home and 6 days later our son Cody was born. By August we were settled and decided to get a companion for our cocker spaniel, little did we know what this would entail! We decided on a pound puppy and quickly found the right one. Within a week we lost that pup due to a congenital brain defect.

A very good friend of mine felt so bad for us she went out on a saturday night and bought us a Golden Retriever. The family that bred the pup were Seventh Day Adventist’s and because of their religion said they could not do business because Saturday was their sabbath. After ALOT of convincing they finally agreed to let her take the pup.

When he arrived at my home late that night I was so shocked and grateful. We quickly named him Buzz and he began to grow and grow and grow. We were told a full grown male averages between 75-80lbs. Buzz soon reached 110lbs, not overweight just very large.

Buzz and Cody became the best of friends as they were only six weeks apart. My husband and I absolutely adored that dog and he was as much a part of our family as our children.I have many happy memories! He was so busy all the time gardening (digging holes in my new sod)bringing us presents (socks, shoes, toys, cups etc.) lazy naps (always on the couch)and the unconditional love he gave all of us!

At age 7 he was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and
on March 10th, 2003 was diagnosed with cancer.
Yesterday, March 16th 2003 we made the difficult decision to let him go, it was what was best for him. Today we feel tremendous grief and sorrow and hope that with time our pain will lessen everyone tells me it will. I truly hope so because this is almost unbearable.

With loving gratitude for all he gave,
