To Jan Rich and Crissy:
Wow where to begin with Cabbage?? I remember the day when you adopted her she was such a cute little puppy so mischevious I remember when she got away from you Jan and was running through the traffic in Glenbrook! (so funny!)
Crissy was so young and Richard ended up really bonding with her…then you got miss Chloe and the two of them became sisters. Cabby was always the queen though and made sure Chloe knew who was boss.
It was always a great familar sound to come to the Thomas household to hear the girls go nuts barking for cookies! Cabby would take her cookie and jump on the sofa to enjoy it without Chloe trying to be a cookie hog!
She really did grow old gracefully and happily accepted the help she got from her family but always remained sweet loving and full of life. Her longevity proves how much she was loved by you and cared for she was such a lucky girl to grow up with you!!! And I know you feel lucky having had her in your lives all of these years…
It will be hard to get used to not having her around…she was there for so many things. The Woodway days your marriage to Rich all of Crissy’s “young and troubled” teen years the animal hospital stays the holidays your dad having her on his lap all the family that knew her and all of the other kitties that were there. Now finally Crissy is happily married and you are about to embark on a new chapter in your lives and perhaps Cabby’s passing was to mark the end of the old one an era to be left behind.
It will be so hard to come into your house now and not have Cabby greet me with her usual enthusiastic barking (even though I scared her with a champagne cork years ago she finally forgave me!). I will miss her very much and feel sad that I was not here to say goodbye and I know you all will miss her everyday but her life was taken gently and with love and the need to put her suffering to an end was the most important thing.
I wanted to write this tribute for her as we have been such close friends for so many years I feel like she was my dog too in a way and will miss her very much as you might feel when one of my pets will pass.
So here is a tribute for Cabby that will be posted here for you if you ever feel the need to remember her one day as she deserves recognition for all the lives she has touched in her 17 wonderful years on this earth.
I especially hope the Chloe will adjust now that her “big sister” is gone..and hope she can make some trips to Vermont now..
I know Cabby is well and sitting in your dad’s lap waiting to see you one day again!
Your friend
Love
Carrie
