For Cain
You tried so hard to stay
but the pain was far too great
And so I have had to let you go on.
Mama, Morgan, Gweenie, Ben
and I will miss you terribly
While Daisy, baby Guinevere,
Abbey and Sarah are waiting at home for you.
You will again be their protector
as your strength is returned
You can run free again and play with them
You can again hear the sounds of the birds and Daisy’s low growl. Take our love to them.
We will miss your soul filled brown eyes,
Your gentle compassionate nature as
You cared for all the others.
We will miss the excited tapping wag of your tail when we said “Good boy!”.
We will miss the way you would lift the treats from the crock to guard them for safe keeping.
We will miss your trust that you placed in me.
We will miss you resting in the sun like an old Sicilian man and your snoring.
We will miss you sleeping soundly under the covers in bed as you never liked the cold.
At times you couls be exasperating but
you were always the best boy.
Love forever,
