Casey by Betty & Tim

Casey my darlin’ dog

The first time I saw you you were standing on your hind legs with your front paws resting on the top of the box. You were peering over the edge at me with you beautiful brown puppy eyes and I immediately
fell in love with you.

Your sisters had been chosen and were waiting to go to their new homes but you had been overlooked because you were a little boy and your size indicated you would grow larger than the set standards for a Sheltie show dog. I know the Lord had saved you just for us. Tim and I took you home and our wonderful eleven year relationship began.

Together you and I attended obedience classes and we formed a loving bond that would last forever. You always knew what I was asking of you and in turn I knew what you were feeling and asking of me.

You entertained us for hours with your spirited playful ways. You would insist we stand on the porch even in the cold of winter to watch you in the safety of your own back yard run wildly and bark in excitement as the train passed by. Our hearts were full of pride and love. And how you made us laugh at your attempts to herd our family cats.

You loved to spend your days outside but at 4:00 o’clock every afternoon you would leave your favorite spot at the corner of the house and come to me. You would stand in front of me and stare with those beautiful brown eyes making your little sounds to get my attentions. You were telling me to get into the kitchen and start dinner and you would not give up until I did so. You would settle down on the floor and watch as I prepared our evening meal and after dinner while I was cleaning up the supper dishes you would again give me that same steady stare until I gave you your dessert in the form of a little bowl of veggies. Then you would be content and return to you favorite spot outside.

At night you slept on the floor by my bedside and come early morning you would bump our bed and quietly make your little sounds until you woke us. You wanted your breakfast and there was no denying you.

My Casey you were plagued with medical problems from an early age but you were always stoic and never complained. You needed to visit the Veterinary Clinic often and you became a great favorite with the staff. How they would smile when on our arrival at the clinic you would walk directly over and stand on the scales before being told.

But the day came my darling Casey when your wonderful veterinarian Dr. Candice Hall could no longer help you. The cancer was too great and we had to make the hardest decision we will ever have to make. We loved you so and our hearts were breaking but we could not let you suffer.
We had to let you go.

Your Canadian Kennel Club registered name says it all “Wyndhaven’s Royal Success” Oh yes you were indeed a Royal Success.

Wait for me my darlin’ dog
at the Rainbow Bridge and
we will cross it together.

Forever loved and
will always be remembered

Betty and Tim
