Pekinese
Checkers was my first dog – a small black & white Pekinese
who gave so much love. He loved to go for his walks and lay on
the deck and watch the people and other dogs walk by his home.
He loved also to go for a short car ride. For the 14 years we had him he
always went with us on vacations never did we leave him behind with
someone else – we would search for accommodations that allowed
Checkers to stay with us. He was our best buddy!
As he grew older he acquired many medical problems but always fought
back to overcome them.
Then arthritis set in especially in those small hind legs.
He would walk as though those legs were 2 wooden legs but walk he
always wanted to do – loved being outside.
All of a sudden his hind legs gave out he could no longer walk but
as Checkers was he sure did try to walk but it was not fair to him as
he could only take maybe 5 steps and would have to lay down.
There was nothing more we could do for him. Realizing we were going
to lose our Best Buddy broke our hearts in a million pieces.
Since his passing home feels so empty.
His younger brother Smoky (Blue Persian Cat) is aware his
pal is gone and is sad.
We will never forget our Beloved Checkers.
We do know he did have a wonderful long life – even so he will
surely be missed forever!
