Someone decided you were too old, too sick, or for some other equally inexplicable reason, no longer
desirable as a family member.
Someone else thought differently. Actually there were three different families who very much wanted to give you
a loving forever home.
Someone left you to sleep outside many, if not all, nights. Someone else made room for you on her bed, with a heated pad for your arthritis, and a comforting hand
to soothe you to sleep.
Someone ignored a heart condition, a bleeding mouth full of rotten teeth, a large tumor, severe arthritis
and extreme thinness.
Someone else made your health, comfort and happiness a priority, and spared nothing trying to restore
your health and vitality.
Someone could abandon you to complete strangers, to be put in an anonymous cage and
left to an uncertain fate.
Someone else grieved with you, as you continued to look for those who had left you, and tried to love you enough
to heal your broken heart.
Someone forgot about you, and probably had already picked out your replacement
when they gave you away.
Someone else looked forward to coming home to you every day, and her heart was filled with gratitude
for your presence in her life.
Someone went on with their normal daily activities today, utterly oblivious that your weakened and desperately ill body finally overcame your brave and gentle spirit.
Someone else held you close, whispered her sorrowful good-byes, and soaked your beautiful head with her tears as your luminous soul
soared home to Heaven.
You moved into my home and heart on the evening of June 8th and have enriched my life in countless ways. You were gentle, strong, brave and beautiful. Although I know you are now whole and healthy once again, I miss you so very much.
Good-bye my lovely Chelsea, and thank you for being here.
