Someone abandoned this puppy a few weeks before Christmas 1997. We claimed her and gave her to my mother on Christmas day in a basket with a red ribbon around her neck. She named the puppy Christmas and
we all soon called her Christy.
My mother had just had surgery for breast cancer and was undergoing daily radiation therapy. She took Christy with her everyday to the cancer treatment center. A few years later when my little brother died after a long illness, Christy was a great comfort to both my parents. She knew just when they needed a hug and would spend hours quietly by their side.
She had her own bed in the back of thier car and went everywhere with them, even to church. She loved the snow and loved to play in it. There have been many snowstorms in the last few weeks so she had been happily playing even just a few days ago. This is how we will remember Christmas.
Love,
