Siamese Cat

It was a hot summer day when you came to live with us.

I was only 18 then. Your pretty little blue eyes looking up to me

with enthusiasm. I can remember the day as if it was yesterday.

We had gotten you from a family with some rather rough boys that had

ran over your hind legs and hips with a bike.

The doc told us you would be ok and you where except for a

slight bowing of the hind legs. As we grew together you where there

for alot of my transitions in life.

I joined the navy and left you. I thought of you constantly and mom

always would send me your pictures in the mail.

Mom loved you as much as I did. You lived a very good life with

mom and dad and got anything to your hearts desire.

Then in 1998 you started having a funny odor to you.

The doc said it wasn’t good. Possibly Kidney failure…

he prescribed some medication which seemed to be doing good.

You actually started playing like a kitten again…was this only to stop us

from worrying about you? I think you knew what direction your life

was taking and didn’t want us to be upset.

You continued to entertain us until around February of 1999.

Your eating habits changed dramatically the only thing u would

eat was baby food. You where loosing weight and the doc still wasn’t

sure what was going on. He didn’t want to tell us that it was old

age which I knew in my heart it was.

On Memorial Day 1999 mom and I took you to the emergency room

because you didn’t sleep at all and was very restless.

The news we didn’t want to hear gripped our hearts and ripped them out.

“I think its best if we go ahead and let him rest” said the doc.

Mom and I stayed with you while the drip slowly entered your body.

You looked at me with those same pretty blue eyes as if saying thank you.

I said ” Its ok Coco time to go to night night”.

With this you laid your sweet little head over in my hand and went to sleep.

Your graveside is visited every time I visit Mom and I still talk to you

because I know you hear me.

I LOVE YOU MY MAN.

Paula

p.s. I will see you again and watch you chase those butterflies

in a most beautiful place .
