Dolphin by Jennifer / Jennifer

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sun on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awake in morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand by my grave and cry,
I am not there;
I did not die.

Eighteen years was far too short of time to know such a wonderful cat like you. I didn’t think that a heart of gold, such as yours, would ever stop beating. You were truly the cat with nine lives until kidney failure finally took your precious life. The memories shared between us are priceless and although you are no longer physically here,
you will always remain in my heart.

Until we meet again,
Dolphin
