Jack Russell / Beagle
I remember the first time I saw you through the
bars at the humane society. We came to your cage
and you wimpered with your tail wagging back and forth.
I knew right away you were the girl we wanted.
We got you for my mom but shortly after she
became too ill to care for you and you became
ours for the next 15 years.
You were two when we adopted you that day.
You were so fun loving and always looked like you
had a smile on your face
We soon found out how smart you were.
It wasn't long that you were sitting pretty shaking hands
speaking playing dead and quite by accident we found
you already knew how to roll over.
One day Tina was trying to get you to sit up and she
somehow made a circle with her hand and you rolled over!!!
You were such a good girl and always
welcomed the new babies into our family.
But none of them could touch your food!
You were such a loyal friend.
I remember the time you got hit by that snowmobile
and we looked for you for hours never to find you.
And at five in the morning I heard a cry and there
you were laying at the door.
You were hurt and couldn't stand we got a pillow for you
and took you to the vet.
Nothing was broken but your ribs and back end were very
bruised and told us that later you would have arthritis.
He said you were probably knocked out for several hours
and could not understand how you made your way home
in the pain you must have been in.
He said you must be a very loyal loving friend and
we thank you for that and all the years that you
brought joy and love to our home.
You are missed and will always be remembered.
I still have that lock of cowlick from your head in a frame
with your picture and the marker I made for you
outside near the front walkway.
Keep that tail wagging and kiss Bo and Boots.
I will see you all at the bridge one day.
Love
Mom
