My cat Freddy was a Tabby Cat. He was defensive and daring. And about a year or two before he died, we had another cat named Sammy who we had to send to the pound, but that’s a different story. Sammy was a tabby to, He was also orange but he wasn’t fluffy. And he got in a fight with my neighbor’s cat four years before Freddy’s passing. And I was in bed I decided to look outside. And I saw Sammy fighting with Slippers. And Sammy got hurt and was lying on the ground. And as Slippers walked toward him Freddy jumped Slippers! Practically saving Sammy. Freddy was defeated by the other cat. He could barely walk. Sammy finally got up and meowed at our door. My dad let him in. Not noticing Freddy.
Now, Freddy was a silent cat, he never Meowed unless he was forced by somebody pulling his tail or something. I ran downstairs. “DADDY! FREDDY’S HURT!” I yelled at him. My dad went outside and retrieved the cat. His paw was bleeding, my dad wrapped it up. My mom was already sleeping. His ear that had lost it’s tip years before from a frost bite was bleeding to. But in the next few days he was running around again. He was my best friend.
The story of how we got him:
We live in this town house complex in unit 11 and the people in unit 7 had two cats. And they didn’t really care for them. We already had Sammy and our cat Garf passed a few weeks ago. We had to get rid of our dog Bailey so we gave him to a farmer. Now, Freddy was 1 and I was 2. And the people in unit 7 moved out. Leaving behind the pure black cat and Freddy with a little bowl of food and water. And nobody knew, until tow weeks later the people that clean the houses before new people move in came. They spotted a suffering cat on the floor. And then found Freddy up stairs hiding in a closet. Freddy was really hungry. They took the other cat and put it to sleep and then they were going to take Freddy to the pound. Until my dad stood up and said: “We’ll take the cat!” So we got to keep him and he lived with us.
And then a few days later the whole family was around deciding what to name the cat. And back in those days I loved Scooby Doo and I was laughing because Fred did something funny and right after my mom said: “What should we name him?” I just laughed: “Freddy!” And that’s how he was named. The other suggestions were: Garf Jr. Bailey Jr., Fluffy, Bob, Kiko, Lenny and Vince.
I still love you Freddy!
