Goldberg by Ela / Your Momma Ela

My Goldberg:

If there is one word to describe my little orange cat, it’s sweet. Goldberg was a loving cat who was very sensitive to other people’s feelings. He licked my tears after an abuser made me cry. When the abuser agitated me, Goldberg came to me and licked my hands. He sometimes lay on my back as I was in bed, or on my chest, and licked my face.

Goldberg liked to eat raw pork with Special Kitty wet food and Friskies dry food. He loved his “sister” Niunia (a sweet labradoodle) very much and often sat next to her in bed or cuddled her.

He loved his new home with so much space to run, jump, play and hunt in the great blue yonder. He spent a lot of time outdoors, but when it was rainy or chilly or he felt lonely, he would jump on the bed and cuddle.

My Goldberg died on July 15, 2016. He was run over by a car. It’s likely he died instantly, my mom and I have concluded. Goldberg was three years old. He was muscular and orange with intelligent, sensitive green eyes and black freckles around his nose. His right ear was clipped when he was neutered.

He liked to chase mice, rats and birds and eat them. He liked to jump, run and play in the grass. He was a cat’s cat.

I love you Goldberg. Thank you for comforting me after the abuser made me cry. You had a heart of gold.

You were a blessing in my life and I love you with all my heart. I’m so sorry you’re gone and I will remember you always. You will always be in my heart. I know we will meet again someday. Wait for me, sweet boy.

With Love,
Goldberg
