1986 (adopted) ----- September 12 1999
Short Haired Feline
Goober became part of our lives in 1986
after the death of my grandfather.
He was a black short-hair male feline
with the most beautiful yellow eyes.
He was and extrodinary cat.
He was with us for 13 years.
We decided to put him to sleep today
Sunday September 12 1999.
His health began to decline for the past year and a half.
He lost a lot of weight and began having problems eating hard cat food.
We modified his diet and he continued to eat.
About 6 weeks ago we noticed he was having problems
with his hips and walking
but he wasn't in pain
so we just helped him as he needed it.
About two days ago he stopped eating and drinking all together.
He used to LOVE eating
sitting on my mother's lap and spending time with her.
It was yesterday that we decided to end his suffering
and put him to sleep.
It was a very difficult decision to make
but we wanted to be with him when he went.
We did not want him to die alone....and he didnt.
He went very peacefully this morning.
I had this cat while I was growing up.
He used to let me fall asleep on his belly.
He would purr because he enjoyed it just as much as I did.
He had an intense love for honey ham and pea juice funny as it may sound.
He was the oldest of our three cats..
He raised one of them.
Goober was an absolute gentleman,
never hurt a sole in his entire existance.
He was loving down to the last minute.
My relief is now knowing that he is in a place
that he will be loved just as much there as he was here.
I will never forget him as long as I live
and no matter how many other cats I have.
God Bless you Goober.
You were a wonderful pet to me and my family
and
you will be missed dearly!
I LOVE YOU FOREVER-NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN!
