Grayboy by Mary and Clarence Benton / Mommy & Daddy

“He will kill mice, and he will be kind to babies when he is in the house, just as long as they do not pull his tail too hard. But when he has done that, and between times, and when the moon gets up and night comes, he is the Cat that walks by himself, and all places are alike to him. Then he goes out to the Wet Wild Woods or up the Wet Wild Trees or on the Wet Wild Roofs, waving his wild tail and walking by his wild lone.” Rudyard Kipling.

Grayboy, I miss you. Thank you for being such a special kitty. Thank you for showing me your teeth when you were in a playful mood, for rolling around the bathroom floor in your slidey, special way, thank you for knocking magazines and candy dishes off of the coffee table; all the while looking straight at your daddy or I when we were telling you not to, thank you for getting dead azalea leaves all over the house when you were a porcupine cat and thank you for your special way of holding onto me when you were ready for sleep. Grayboy, most of all, thank you for your love. Daddy and I will always have a special place for you in our hearts. Heavenly Father has welcomed you and we will be together again. Until then watch over us.

We will always love you.
