When I was about 10 years old, my family & I were driving in the country and noticed a sign: FREE PUPPY. We went to check it out, and it was this beautiful dalmatian puppy. Apparently, the owners had sold her to someone but she had been returned because they didn’t like the fact she was deaf and she also had some behavioral problems. I begged my parents to have her after we went home, so soon after, we went back & took her home. She whined all the way there!
There are so many beautiful & especially funny memories I have with Gypsy. She used to chase around the flashlight when we’d shine the light on the ground, leaving scratches on the walls. Also, she would do this funny thing when she’d eat food & we’d put gravy on it… she’d lift up one of her back legs in the air 🙂 Also, she loved to play hide & seek… I or a family member would go hide behind a door or wall and
she’d always find or see us.
Also, she loved to receive one of my wonderful massages, and in return she licked my feet every night. She had such a hilarious personality- like smelling herself and then her jaws would click. We’d let her out and she’d always run over to the neighbor’s house, only to come running back to us when we’d hold out her leash. It was like- she’s free, so why would she want to get put on a leash to go for a walk???
I loved seeing her jump around in the winter in the snow, eating snowflakes & she was so cute in her sweater. She also did some funny *bad* things like ripping through the entire trash when we were gone, pulling the toilet paper off the roll and into the living room, ripping apart CDs, eating earplugs that were laying around…
She was the most beautiful dog ever & it didn’t matter to me that she was deaf. We taught her how to stay, come and of course we told her “no” in sign language when she was bad. She was so unique & I will never forget her for the angel that she was.
