Hallmark by David Santos/Mona / Mona for David Santos

Hallmark was my brother David’s cat. He got her as a kitten in Baltmore, MD. where he lived and worked. He loved Hallmark very much and when David acquired AIDS and came home to pass away, we had many talks, and one of those talks was for me to take Hallmark when he goes. I told him I couldn’t at the time because I myself had 14 cats but to keep her with mom and if anything happened to mom, I would promise to take her.

David passed away September 24, 1992 and Mom passed away on May 18, 1999. I made a special trip up to Eastern WA where Hallmark was and finally found her and brought her home. She lived with me from May 1999 to February 14, 2004. I had to have her put to sleep because of an injection cancer that was pretty bad.
I think I held on to her longer than I should have, but I didn’t want to get rid of that final link to David, but I choose Valentine’s Day to show my love for David and Hallmark.
Hallmark was a dilute Calico. She was so soft and had the loudest of purrs I have ever heard. Her purr stays in my mind forever. She softness and love for me, once she got use to me, stays with me too.
My only solice in this whole thing, is that she is now with David and he will take care of her from here on.

Thank you for your years with us ‘Marky’ and we miss you. But we know you are happy too, being with your beloved David.

RIP my friend.

I love and miss you Hallmark.
