Heidi came into our lives in January, 2001, two weeks after the passing of Candi, our previous Shih Tzu. She was quite small for her size, but she was definitely the boss! She was one of the best behaved pets we ever had.
At 18 months, Heidi suddenly went blind, due to detached retinas. Some would have euthanized her at that point, but she was otherwise healthy, and besides, we loved her so. For years afterward, people meeting her for the first time didn’t know she was blind unless we told them.
Heidi’s health began to fail in 2014, as she began to have seizures and difficulty walking. This got progressively worse, until March of 2015, when the wife and I decided that she should join Candi in heaven. I stayed with her until the end at the vets office, loving on her and talking to her.
Gone from our sight but forever in our hearts
