Jamie by Michele Caring Hearts Rescue / Sabina- www.caringheartsrescue.org

Sweet Jamie came into Caring Hearts Rescue in December 2012. When I heard of this sweetie having a bad heart murmur from the Shelter Representative I hesitated taking him into our Rescue because we just lost a senior dog a few weeks prior to cancer. It’s hard to say no to a orphan knowing they will be euthanized if not rescued. Our foster mom Michele was dedicated to saving this sweetie to give him a second chance having a loved life with our care and I agreed. He immediately went to our Vet and received medicine and had diagnostics done. We found in the x-rays a large mass in Jamie’s liver. We pursued more diagnostics to see the type of tumor in the liver and placed sweet Jamie on liver nutritrional support and antibiotics to treat his raging infection. He spent several days in the hospital on IV medicated fluids to regain his strength and battle the infection raging in his body. During the next few weeks we waited on results and his foster mom Michele home cooked for this Angel so he would eat. Michele knew Jamie was very sick though because he had very little strength and just laid in Michele’s arms most of the time. Sadly, on Jamie’s last visit to the doctor it was found that Jamie had advanced cancer. With his advanced cancer there was no solution to save this sweet boy. He was freed from his suffering and is now romping around and enjoying his time until Michele meets him on the Rainbow Bridge. You would think that one wouldn’t get attached only having Jamie a few short weeks, but his foster parents were devastated by his loss. Jamie was a sweet and gentle soul.
During the short weeks in Rescue he spent a majority of his time being held like a baby in Michele’s arms. Her kind words and love made Jamie’s short stay comfortable and surely loved. So, he left this life knowing kindness and love before he passed on. To show your support any letters of kindness to Jamie’s foster parents Michele and Tom can be mailed to Caring Hearts Rescue P.O. Box 6592 Springfield, Va. 22150 or emailed to me at chr-news@caringheartsrescue.org and I will forward the email to Michele. We’re also accepting donations in memory of Jamie. During his Rescue with us his Vet expenses came to $800.00 with our 50% discount. We don’t want expenses to stop us from trying to save dogs like Jamie. Please, donate in his memory so we can continue rescuing the sick and the seniors needing more care. Dogs like Jamie should not be forgotten in a shelter to die. Thank you in advance for your tax deductable donation. Sabina- CHR

The Rainbow Bridge
by Paul C. Dahm

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly, he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

With Love,
Jamie
