Karma by John & Bekye Eckert / John, Bekye and Andy

Karma and her companions, Marra and Andy, entered my life 4-1/2 years ago. Affectionately nicknamed “the Maltese Mafia,” these three amazing little puppy mill survivors quickly laid claim to my heart.

Karma was the pluckiest of the three, always right out front seeing what sort of adventure might await. She was also the most passionate about food, earning her the affectionate nickname of FoHo (Food Whore) as she never met a meal she didn’t like!

Karma lived and loved her life at full tilt, never holding anything back. She was always at 110% … and her enthusiasm and joie-de-vivre brought such incredible light and joy to us all. It doesn’t seem possible that she is gone.

Our dear friend Pamm sent us this poem last year when Marra crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and we offer it now in honor of the dynamic little leader of the Maltese Mafia.

FOR RESCUE ONES DEPARTED

Came to me as Rescue
Loved you from the start
Now you are God’s Angel
But always in my heart
So live up there with Rainbows
Know peace, know love, be whole
God welcomes you to Heaven
All creatures have a soul.

We know your angel friends Marra and Sassy are there to greet you, and that heaven in infinitely richer for your lively presence.

The gaping hole in our hearts will only be healed when we are all together again.

With all our love,
Karma
