Dachshund
Katie was my dearest friend.
During her life she enjoyed swimming chasing birds
(although she never caught one)
She liked eating people food fetching balls and fishing
( though she never grasped the concept of catch and release).
She hiked the Appalachian Trail ( Okay she had to be carried for a good
portion of the journey…afterall she was a dachshund).
To her credit in her latter years she gave up her rigid life stance
and grew fond of cats..
She liked to canoe but would jump out to chase ducks.
Her human companion purchased a dog life jacket to assure
her safety.
Katie was very protective of her family…..barking incessantly
to make sure that no pizza delivery man would
ever harm her family.
She loved to lie in the sun eat vanilla ice cream cones,
have her belly rubbed.
And for having known her and loved her,
I will never be the same!
