Larry by Pamela / Your Loving Owner

I will never forget Christmas Eve of 2009. It was, and still is, the worst day of my life. I’ve always had a pet cat, sometimes 2, my whole life. I also care for a feral cat colony, and when any of them need emergency vet care, I have to trap them, which is never easy, so I helplessly witness what cats go through when there are outside and on there own. It is extremely sad. Losing my beloved Larry to cancer was much harder than anything I’ve ever experienced. I miss him everyday. In honor of the best cat that ever lived,I’d like to say a few things. Please keep your cats indoors and spay and neuter your cats.

If you want baby kittens, go to the shelter and save a life. I read 100’s of cat memorials and 80% of the deaths were caused by cars, poison, cruel people, dogs, wildlife and disease transferred by other outdoor cats. It also shocked me to read about how many litters of kittens people allowed their cats to have. Aren’t the amount of cats euthanized for no reason, heartbreaking. If this doesn’t matter to those who posted memorials, don’t get a cat.The lifespan of a outdoor cat is 2-4 years, an indoor cat is 15-17 years. If you are so devastated by the death of your cat, change your ways. I can’t put my mind around the amount of people who lost more than 1 cat from getting hit by a car. Didn’t the loss of the first one have an impact on you? I was so lucky to have Larry walk in to my work, I new his owners, but he lived outside, he had worms, fleas, and wasn’t fixed. That day was the last day he ever stepped outside again for 7 years and 7 months. That was the happiest time of my life.

Rest well my handsome boy ~
