We found Liebe at the San Diego pound when she was six months old. She recognized us as her soulmates right away. She’d been sitting at the back of her cage ignoring everyone. But when we approached, she flew to the gate and started whimpering, shaking, pawing through the bars, begging us to take her. We brought her home and for the next 14-1/2 years she was the light and love of our lives.
She grew from a timid little angel to a radiant, queenly being with glossy black and gold fur, luminous golden eyes, and the most beautiful face you can possibly imagine. She was a magical dog whose soul just glowed forth from her, so strongly you could almost see it. She radiated peace and bliss. She showed us the beauty and joy that is in every moment if you only stop to look at it the right way. She opened our hearts as they’ve never been opened before. She changed our lives forever.
When Liebe was 7 years old, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She recovered miraculously, becoming a beacon of hope to people and animals everywhere whose lives had been blighted with cancer. Her fame spread far and wide, and people to this day will call me and ask for her story and “how we did it.”
She changed my life by showing me that miracles really do happen. That transforming into a being of bliss and grace is a choice that can be made at any moment and can last a lifetime. Most of all, she opened my heart to love–her and her wonderful father, my husband–more than I ever knew it was possible to love. Thank you Liebe, for making me the happiest girl in the world. I will light your candle every night and hope you find your way back to us.
We love you and miss you.
My love forever and forever,
