I have to say although I love my other cats,
that Lucky was my favorite pet that I had ever had.
My mom and dad found her on Interstate 70
between Columbia and Rocheport Missouri on May 11 1985.
We guessed her to be 4-6 weeks old and
she was by herself in the rain.
Thus I named her Lucky
because she was very lucky that my parents found her.
My dad wanted to call her Interstate but that
just didn’t fit very well.
She was a very dainty cat and very small once she was grown up.
She was always my “Teddy Bear” meaning
that she had her spot in my bed every night
in between my legs.
She had me trained to lift my legs over her
if I turned in my sleep or
if I did make her move
she would re-position herself and
I would wake up with her there.
She was also a very determined kitty.
When I first got her I ran a tub of water one night and
laid down in it.
She came in the bathroom
and being as tiny as she was as a kitten
about the size of a soda can
she tried and tried jumping
to the edge of the tub
until she finally made it up and in the water she went.
She swam for her life and I got her out
and she looked like a little white rat.
Even so she was always fascinated with water.
She liked to swirl the water around in her bowl stick her head
under the faucet
if it was dripping
get in the tub after I showered and so on.
She lived a full relatively happy life
except that her and
my other two cats
started fighting after
they all turned about 10 or 11
(all were the same age).
After one of the other cats passed away
the male still fought with Lucky and
would scratch her up pretty bad sometimes.
I started working with them and
got the violence down to somewhat of a minimum
but they still never liked
each other to the end.
She started being sick early this year (2002)
starting out with a bronchial infection
and was diagnosed with a liver problem.
Then she got sick again about a month ago
but I am not going to go into all of it
because I want
to remember her as the dainty sweetheart
that she was.
She passed away at about 9:00pm Saturday night August 10
in my bedroom on a blanket.
I will never forget her as long as I live,
and I know she is in Kitty Heaven or
where ever animals go
after the earthly life.
Goodbye Lucky
I will always miss you and
always love you dearly.
With Love always.
