LUCKY

Lucky was loved by scores of people from all walks of life. Her start in life was very brutal–some uncaring boys threw her from a moving truck against the hillside of a four-lane road. She survived with a broken leg and a fear of people. As she quickly was noticed by people who loved animals one by one we adopted her. No one was ever able to catch her but she did know those of us who regularly stopped to feed her and talk to her.

Lucky was at least 10 years old possibly 13–this fact we are unsure of. In the spring of 2001 Lucky became pregnant for the first time. We all worried about her health and attempted to bring her to our local vet. Unfortunately she would not allow us to touch her. On May 12 2001 Lucky died trying to give birth. There is tremendous sadness for all who loved Lucky. A memorial has been established for this brave little dog who successfully dodged four-lane traffic all of her life. Each day people who admired Lucky’s vigor for life and loved her for the goodness she brought out in others bring flowers to this site.

In a 1999 editorial Lucky was described as a “survivor.” The editor was exactly right. Lucky still lives on in the hearts of all who truly loved her.

Lucky you will always remain in our hearts and we will miss you terribly until we meet again.

Love

All Your Countless Friends
