Maxie

Yorkie

Our precious Maxie was killed on Friday 6/16 at 3:00 p.m.

We live in a cul-de-sac on what we assumed to be a “safe” street for pets…

I was planting flowers in the garden and turned my back and Maxie took

her daily walk making the rounds in the cul-de-sac as she

always did for the past 8 or so years..

When we got you in December of 1991 you were so so tiny and ill…

we didn’t know if you would make it through the first month

but you were a fighter and pulled through…

I remember handfeeding you…first 4 nuggets soaked in water

then 5 then 6… gradually eating on your own.

You must have 9 lives not knowing you were a dog not a cat…

we took you to a neurologist in Philadelphia…

you were falling over not able to stand up…vet didn’t know

what was wrong…the neurologist treated you with prednisone

and lo and behold you fooled us again….

You enjoyed harassing Molly your Lab sister (at 125 lbs. to your 5 lbs.)

by putting your leg into her mouth while she “nibbled” on it…

you were the “cheerleader” the one who got Buddah and Molly

to barking at usually nothing or a squirrel in the woods…

Your dark little brown eyes would stare up at me while cooking…

you in your little corner of the kitchen knowing full well that mom would

throw you something eventually…

Dad misses you cuddling up to him underneath the covers

at night and your little squeaks…

Your picture is by our bedside…

I will never need to be reminded of your beautiful precious face..

it will be with me forever and when I cross over the bridge,

please be there waiting my little girl…

I miss you so much….

Love,

Mom
