Melody by Joan Carol Snyder-Stone / Joan Carol and Tempo

Melody…you were 4 months old when I first saw you. Though you were small, there you were ~ not taking any nonsense from the big dog who shared your first home with you! I loved your feisty spirit and took you home with me.

When we got home, Viva (our Lab) accepted you right away because she was a big lover! Within one day, the pecking order was established! You were the boss! You always acted like a Doberman in disguise!

From the outset, you were game for anything! You were curious about everything and you loved to travel. You looked so cute when you would sit up, which melted everyone’s heart, especially audiences. When Cliffie and I performed with our group at numerous venues, such as Leisure World, we would bring you out on stage. Without any stage fright whatsoever, you would look at the audience, then you would sit up. Your one and only trick and the audience went ahhh and clapped! You were a star!

When you were 7 years old, I brought home a Shih Tzu puppy named Tempo. Immediately you let her know who was boss and within 20 minutes the two of you were playing and remained “joined at the hip” throughout your lives together. We always introduced you and Tempo as “our musical dogs,” and people always got a kick out of it.

When Cliffie and I went to Nashville on business, you and Tempo would stay at my parent’s home. Mom always told me that within 3 days, you would start “howling” for me. Did you know that you were the only dog that ever “howled” for me? You, Viva and Tempo were beloved family members and we were blessed to have all of you for so many years.

You adapted to old age with courage and grace. Though your eye sight was very limited, you had memorized the entire house. Melody, you were courageous and brave right up to the very end! Though I knew you were sixteen years old, it was hard to lose you. You shared so many big events in my life, and helped me through the sad ones.

I cried like a baby when you left for the “Rainbow Bridge” to be with Viva. It was so sad to see Tempo go around the house looking for you. Both Tempo and I miss you and the grief process was difficult. I still miss you “howling” for me. Thank you for your love! You were feisty, loving and a faithful friend! You were loved by all of us.
See you at the “Rainbow Bridge.”

All Our Love,

Joan Carol and Tempo

Love always,
Melody
