Well our little friend….as we lay here without you by our side tonight, it really hurts. Thinking of all the joy you brought to us. Born in Cherokee, Kansas, somehow you found your way to our hearts. Joining us in October, our first thought is your sister and girlfriend dressing you up as a little jail bird for Halloween; you were looking good. Then there was a trip to the snow up to Mount Hamilton; it was cold and wild. Trips to the beach, Monterey car show, a week at the cabin in Strawberry, trips to dog parks, lots and lots of walks….just laying with you and watching TV meant so much. You were always excited to see people and other animals; especially the squirrels that you chased in the back yard…..what drama you created. Running inside to your “doggie diner” corner to get your treats was your favorite thing to do….you LOVED to eat! Of course, your least favorite thing to do was those soapy baths we’d give you….but they made you smell so good. These are just a few of the joys that continued for 16 sweet years….we loved you so very much.
As our time together was coming to a close, Mercede, you showed no fear, helping us with our tears. Taking your last walk with your sister, mom and dad, it seemed you were gathering special memories to take on your next journey. As your friends came out to say good-bye, it seemed you were trying to say….it’s OK, no need to cry. Your last car ride with the wind blowing in your face, we could see a little smile and heard you whisper……
LOVE YOU ALL,
